Drum Program Department Chair

Salary: $72,571.00/year

Job Summary:
LACM is seeking a dynamic and experienced Department Administrator to lead and manage the Drum Program Department. This role involves overseeing faculty recruitment, faculty evaluation, program and curriculum development, program review, and budget considerations. The candidate will be responsible for student advisement, teaching 15-25 hours of classes, and general supervision of the teaching, service, and related activities of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation.
  • Oversee program and curriculum development, and conduct program reviews.
  • Manage departmental budgets and student advisement.
  • Supervise teaching, service, and related departmental activities.
  • Teach 15-25 hours of classroom instruction.
  • Recommend teaching techniques and integrate new technologies in the classroom.
  • Mentor and coach faculty to enhance their teaching skills.
  • Supervise five music instructors.

Qualifications:

  • MS in Drums or Music.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a professional drummer with touring, studio recording, or music directing experience.
  • Experience as a drum coach, teacher, or instructor, including managing a drum program in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of music and drums.
