Dave Johnstone is an in-demand live and session drummer, music director, and contractor based in Los Angeles. He currently serves as a music director for Dave Koz and Friends at Sea, music director/drummer for living legend Ellis Hall, and freelances with many artists in LA doing both live performances and remote recording sessions from his home studio. From 2017-2021 Dave was music director/ recording/touring drummer for Resonance Records artist Aubrey Logan, traveling the world and playing on “Where the Sunshine is Expensive” which reached #1 on the Billboard Jazz Charts. He has worked Liza Minnelli, Michael Orland, Jeff Lorber, Dave Koz, The Dan Band, Allison Janney, Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops, and Geneva Camerata Symphony. Dave has been seen performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly, Ellen, and NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He has played on many albums and film/television scores, including the score for the Oscar-winning film “Juno”, Universal Studios “Blockers” and “Dig” on USA Network.
