California In-State Tuition
Beginning in 2027, LACM is excited to introduce our new California In-State Tuition. Students who graduate from an accredited California high school are eligible for a reduced tuition rate of $7,900 per quarter.
Students only need to submit an official high school transcript showing graduation from a California high school to be eligible. No separate application or residency documentation is required.
Whether you’re pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, this new tuition rate reflects LACM’s commitment to making a world-class music education more accessible to students from our home state.

The California In-State Tuition is verified through:
- An official transcript showing graduation from an accredited California high school (public, private, charter, or registered home school).
- An official California GED or HiSET transcript showing that the equivalency exam was taken and passed within the state of California.
If you apply to LACM before graduating high school, your official transcript must be sent by the transcript deadline in order to receive the California In-State Tuition.
Associate, Bachelor, and Master degree seeking students qualify for California In-State Tuition.
Eligible students receive the California In-State Tuition rate for the duration of their degree program, provided they remain continuously enrolled and maintain any institutional requirements established by LACM.
Yes. The California In-State Tuition rate will not impact your opportunity to potentially receive a merit or academic scholarship.

General Education course books are not included in the LACM’s tuition price; therefore the student is responsible for purchasing their text books (i.e. Amazon, Half Price Books, etc).

**The STRF is a fund administered by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (Bureau) that relieves or mitigates economic loss suffered by a student while enrolled in a qualifying institution – generally, one that is approved or registered by the Bureau. At the time of his or her enrollment, the student must have been a California resident or enrolled in a California residency program, prepaid tuition, and suffered economic loss.
Effective April 1, 2022, the Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) assessment rate will be two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per one thousand dollars ($1,000) of institutional charges.

LACM offers Merit Based Scholarships, Need-based grants & Federal Financial Aid for those that qualify.
