Carlos Campos is a music educator and has taught professionally for over 30 years. He taught at Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Cornel School of Contemporary Music, California College of Music and currently he teaches at Los Angeles College of Music (LACM).
He earned a Bachelor of Music from Berklee, Masters of Music from New England Conservatory and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music Arts from Shepherd University.
Some of his teachers include Edgar Valcarcel (student of Ginastera, Aaron Copland, Olivier Messiaen), William Thomas McKinley, Herb Pomeroy, Ran Blake, Anthony D’Bonaventura, Stephanie Tiernan (piano chair at Berklee; student of Madame Margaret Chaloff), James Williams and others.
Carlos Campos is a music education author who has written extensively for piano, music theory, ear training, improvisation, composition, arranging and scoring. He also has written and developed music college level curriculum and media for schools like Berklee, Musicians Institute, the Cornel School of Music, California College of Music and LACM.
He has published many curricular texts on subjects including Latin Jazz Piano, Salsa & Afro-Cuban styles, ear training, piano proficiency, voicings, improvisation, and contemporary keyboard technique.
As a composer, producer and performer, Dr. Campos has recorded music for a wide variety of international artists on major and independent labels and television networks including EMI, BMG, Atlantic, Bronco, CNET, Telemundo, and Univision. His music has appeared in commercials for major corporations including Nissan, GTE, Jack in the Box, Cadbury, and more.
Currently, Mr. Campos hosts weekly music lesson webinars and develops online music educational curriculum through his Facebook and YouTube channel. As of November 2023, Mr. Campos’ YouTube music educational channel has 6,800,674 views and 21.7K subscribers.
