Larry began guitar at the age of 7, and at 15 he recorded an album with his father entitled “Dave and Larry Koonse: Father and Son Jazz Guitars”, setting in motion a career that has thus far found him featured on over 400 albums. He has recorded and/or toured with Luciana Souza, Bob Mintzer, Peter Erskine, Mel Torme, Billy Childs, John Dankworth and Cleo Lane, John Patitucci, Natalie Cole, Hubert Laws, Lee Konitz, Ray Brown, Toots Thielemanns, Rod Stewart, Seth MacFarlane, and many many others. Larry has recorded 4 albums as co-leader of The L.A. Jazz Quartet, and 4 more under his own name. His most recent recording is “Conversations” with pianist David Roitstein.
