Diego “El Negro” Alvarez master cajón player born in Venezuela. He lived 16 years in Spain where he developed his career alongside the most prestigious flamenco dance companies such as Joaquin Cortez, Antonio Canales, Sara Baras, Nuevo Ballet Español and Paco Peña. Flamenco jazz musicians such as Jorge Pardo, Rubem Dantas, Agustín Carbonell “el Bola” Jerrry Gonzales Quartet , Diego “El Cigala” Antonio Carmona, Alain Pérez Quartet. With more than 12 nominations to the Latin Grammys, He has worked with artists such as: Franco De Vita, Juan Luis Guerra, Nicole Scherzinger, Luis Enrique, Haley Reinhart, Amigos Invisibles, Jungle Fire, Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil. He currently lives in Los Angeles CA as a sesionist musician. Diego is part of the movement of percussionists specialized in the flamenco cajón. From its flamenco root it has been able to bring the instrument closer to different cultures and musical genres, thus being one of the best in the world.
