Mitchell was born and raised in San Diego California, now living in Los Angeles since 2003. Long’s 43 year Professional career began in 1981. A Multi genre musician and creative improviser but deeply rooted in dance forms of music and groove oriented music, Mitchell’s experience ranges from Jazz, pop, folkloric and world music styles with Influences from traditional, classic rock, straight ahead jazz, Brazilian MPB, bossa nova, and Samba. African styles. An active sidemen for hundreds of artists across all genres in studio and tours worldwide – Credits include recent work with Herb Alpert, Lani Hall, Keiko Matsui, Rique Pantoja, Melody Gardot, Waldemar Bastos, Gloria Estefan, Anna Maria Jopek, Maria Rita, Monika Borzym and Carol Welsman Upcoming solo project featuring original works and some covers will perform shows and tour in CO in August. Plans to record a record this year. Current releases include a trio project with Cuban drum virtuoso Jimmy Branly and Hammand Organist Carey Frank. Notable mentions include touring and recording multiple platinum records with Melody Gardot for 8 years in worlds most prestigious jazz festivals and music venues. Received Gold record for work on Monika Borzym “Back to the Garden” release.
